Types Of Yoga
It takes mental toughness and patience to discuss yoga in this century. Globalization seems to have a devastating impact on this ancient concept. To facilitate people’s understanding, the mysteries of yoga and all its intricacies have been simplified into the modern day version of yoga practice. The contents of yoga are exceptionally intricate and thus westerners may find it hard to understand. It is disturbing to see a lot of people obtaining shallow understanding of this complex subject and yet remaining unhesitant to talk about it from an expert’s point of view. There is a tendency among the westerners to highlight only the physical aspects of yoga. Yoga has been reduced to a physical activity to achieve internal balance and serenity.
It originates from the Hindu religion and it is actually a part of the Hindu philosophy. Indians understand that is not a mere physical activity, but yoga is part of a spiritual development that is realized through a systematic and disciplined physical approach. It is unfortunate that the western world would approach yoga as a mere physical activity. The hidden intricacies of this mysterious practice with its strange looking symbols may be successful in making the average westerner aware that there are more to yoga than physical moves alone, but nevertheless they are often misunderstood. It is practiced as a popular sport. It also does a good job attracting those who wish to obtain inner peace and balance in the midst of the hectic modern lifestyle. Additionally, people who desire inner tranquility would often find this practice to be beneficial.
The so called experts in this industry have been quick to use these promises and people have been fascinated. Research shows that yoga has been highly misunderstood in the west and therefore plenty of fatal errors were detected in the way yoga is implemented. These errors were caused by each racial group’s internal culture and form. It appears that the west is not prepared to pay the price necessary to gain a deeper understanding of this philosophy. Most Americans do not possess the time to spend moments in meaningful sessions of quiet meditation, which is essential for success when embracing this practice. Westerners have different goals and priorities, and the insatiable desire to accumulate massive amounts of wealth certainly has no place in the system of values among the Hindus. True wisdom, as defined by the parameters of the Hindu religion would be an impossible feat to achieve when this paradigm is adopted. It takes patience and time to experience a successful meditative session. The westerners do not place a high degree of importance in the attainment of philosophical wisdom, as it does for the accumulation of massive wealth and gaining power.
Yoga is practiced more as a form of recreational activity to fulfill a stylish lifestyle. There are plenty of materials promoting it as a form of sports; you can practice yoga anywhere and anytime you want. During the early years of yoga practice in the US, a lot of yoga “gurus” have emerged, claiming to be experts of this discipline. Yet they gradually dwindled into what they actually are, merely fake gurus and yet they still have real support from their disciples. These followers have become the pillars supporting the growth of this false and wrong philosophy.
